The Sunshine State is Going Solar!
By Harden Custom Homes 06 Dec 2017

We live in the Sunshine state. That right there should tell you that we are in the ideal climate for solar energy to be a worthwhile option.

If you are building a new home, chances are you plan to live in it for a while. Though not inexpensive at the inception, over time solar power can save you enough money to more than pay for itself.  On average it takes a little over 9 years in a home for the system to pay itself off. The average lifetime savings (after paying off the initial investment) is just under $50,000.

To give you a little perspective on savings the forecast for the average utility company over the next 25 years is shown at $.24 cents/kWh. With a solar home, you can expect to pay just $.07 cents/kWh. That is a dramatic difference. These numbers are based on the installation of a 10.63kW system. It could offset an electric bill of $150/mo. by 100%.

Additionally, The state of Florida offers solar incentives. The Federal Solar Tax Credit is 30%. Florida is helping to lead the nation into going solar.

Solar panels are very thin and non-disruptive to the design of your home. They lay flat on the roof and are a fairly easy installation that can be done right during your initial build with Harden Custom Homes. You can choose your own company or we are happy to contract one for you.

Homes that rely either partly or fully on solar energy are less of a drain on non-renewable resources such as coal, oil or natural gas. We will never run out of sun, especially here in Southwest, Florida.
