It can seem overwhelming with all of the coordination and decisions to be made, but if you take a step back and look at the bigger picture you can really choose to relish this time. Its the time of creation, to put together one puzzle piece at a time to build the home of your dreams.

The experts at Harden Custom Homes can help guide you, but in the meantime, let's take a look at the top flooring ideas for this upcoming year of 2018.

This is going to be an exciting year for flooring options. Never before have so many looks and styles been on the market and available to the average home buyer/builder.

Hardwood - Hardwood flooring is elegant and timeless. It can be cut into strips, squares, parquet flooring, or intricate designs. The harder the wood, the more durable the floor. Oak, Maple, Cherry, Bamboo, Walnut, Ash and Mahogany are all excellent choices.

Marble & Granite - The options in color and texture available for marble and granite flooring are virtually endless. Every slab is unique in vein color and texture. It is important to buy enough from the same supply that you can easily do the area that is wanted, trying to find pieces to match later is very difficult if not impossible. These natural stone options when finished add beauty and luxury to any space. Floors can be done in single sheets, small or large squares, or even custom cut shapes fit together.

Stone - Though when most people hear “stone flooring” they think marble, it is far from the only option. Slate, Travertine, Limestone, Sandstone, even flagstone all can be cut and polished into highly desirable flooring components.

Tile - Tile is by far the most common and popular hard floor covering here in Southwest Florida. Second only to carpeting. Tiles can be constructed of ceramic, porcelain, or any of the natural stones mentioned above. They fit together very well and give the home elegance and durability as well as an easy cleaning option.

Laminate - This may be the newest and most interesting as well as the most cost-effective option. Laminate can be made of vinyl or composite materials. They are faux finished to look like a myriad of many other things - woods, patterns, marbles, granites, faux finishes, they can mimic a bunch of other looks at a fraction of the cost.

Concrete Staining - Reactive acid stains are designed to react with the concerts surface, chemically. They result in a watercolor-like transparency staining effect that is very attractive. They make the floor look finished even in reality when it is just the bare concrete. The results can be stunning and add a look like no other.

Carpeting - Carpet is still king. As much as we all love the look of the harder flooring, places like bedrooms, studies, reading rooms, bonus rooms, man caves, and places you spend a great deal of time, perhaps walking shoeless, carpet is still desired. Padding is added underneath the installation giving your body a break from the constant pounding you feel when walking on hard surfaces all day.

No matter what your style or preference - we would love to work with you to choose the perfect combination of surfaces for your new home. Give us a call today 239-205-5075 or visit us online www.hardencustomhomes.com.
